This is our first time doing Classical Conversations, and we’re super excited to use it as a supplement to our core curriculum: The Playful Pioneers. This week I’m talking about how learning really can be all fun and games when you gameschool, and I’m sharing our choices for gameschooling Classical Conversations Cycle 3.
For those of you who are new to the idea of gameschooling, it’s really super simple. You choose games that complement whatever subject or idea that you are covering in your studies.
Learning is so much more natural when your kids don’t realize they are “doing school.” It takes the pressure off, and allows knowledge to be absorbed in an outside of the box kind of way.
My boys really love gameschooling, so when we decided to try Classical Conversations, I knew I wanted to find games that would help us add a hands-on element to our weekly memory work in the same way that our living books add context to the facts we learn each week.

Classical Conversations covers a variety of subjects, and since we aren’t focusing on them all at this stage (my boys are pre-k and first grade), I am only including our choices for History, Geography, and Science. I will also include a few favorites that we are using for Math and English, but they aren’t specific to the Classical Conversations memory work.
If you are interested in supplementing your memory work further, you can find our living books lists for each week of Cycle 3 here.
