Meet Shannon

Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here!

Mom life… we do it all and try so hard to do it well, but there never seems to be enough hours in the day, and coffee and chocolate just aren’t enough to make it through. Sound familiar?

Well, mama, take a deep breath because I’m about to lighten your load.

I’m Shannon. Wife to James and mama to three larger than life boys. I love Jesus, good books, and fresh flowers. I’m an aspiring gardener and a foodie who’s learning to live a mostly Paleo lifestyle. And I’m passionate about teaching busy moms how to calm the chaos of mom life, so they can create lives they love.

We live in a time where motherhood is seen as a season to survive, but I don’t want to just make it through my mom life. I want to thrive. And that doesn’t happen by accident.

This is a place where action taking mamas like you can find encouragement, inspiration, and practical solutions to leave your busy and burdened life behind for good, so you can focus on what matters, and lead your loved ones from an overflow of joy rather than overwhelm and exhaustion.

My mission is to help courageous women stand steady through the storms of mom life, anchored in the truth of who they are and whose they are. And to help them step out in vulnerability to embrace joyful motherhood. Because I believe that life is crazy beautiful, but through grace it can be little less crazy and a lot more beautiful.

My Story

I’m married to an incredible man who has stood by me and loved me even when I haven’t been so lovable, and my sons bring me joy like I could never have imagined. But for a long time, I felt like I was drowning in my life.

I’ve always been an overachiever – like an A wasn’t good enough when there was an A+ to aspire to. And when I put my mind to it, I was usually pretty good at doing things well. But motherhood was different. There was no book to give me the right answers, and no one-size-fits-all formula. All I knew was that Instagram told me other moms were getting it right, and I just wasn’t.

What was wrong with me?

I couldn’t understand how I could love my family so much, yet still feel like I was constantly failing them. I knew, really knew – deep down in my bones – that I was created for more than just surviving my motherhood, but I had no idea how to make it easier so I could could dig myself out the mess I was buried under.

All I knew for sure was that nothing was going to change if I kept making excuses and letting the fear of failure keep me from taking the next step forward. It was time to put on my big girl panties and own my life.

I started by simplifying and creating room to catch my breath. Then I embraced rhythms of simplicity, rest, and renewal, so I would be at my best as I redirected my time and energy into the things that really mattered and the legacy I wanted to leave.

It was through this journey of breaking down walls and rebuilding foundations that I realized how much more is caught than taught.

As I embraced a more minimal lifestyle, my kids began to learn to value of gratitude, simplicity, and generosity. They were engaging more with their studies because I was more available to be present, learning alongside them. And as I purposefully spoke words of affirmation and truth into their lives and mine, they began to blossom into children who understood their worth.

Mom life brought me to my knees in surrender, and through God’s grace I was able to pick myself up and discover that there was truly joy to be found in this sweet season of motherhood.
